Mountain travel course
The mountain travel course is intended for outdoor enthusiasts who seek to improve their safety and security when engaging in winter activities in a mountain environment. This 2-4 day course is a sequel to the other mountain safety training courses designed to help people properly prepare for autonomous mountain outings. The mountain touring course is already offered to students in the specialized Adventure and Ecotourism program at CEGEP St-Laurent in Montreal. The course is given both in the classroom (40%) and outdoors (60%) and integrates notions of recognizing avalanche-prone terrain, recognizing conditions that are conducive to avalanches, preparing for mountain outings, safe and secure mountain touring and autonomous search and rescue practices in the event of an accident.
