List of equipment – Alpine hiking
Clothes
- Long underwear (wool or synthetic material)
- Insulating clothing (fleece)
- Tracksuits (waterproof and windproof hooded jacket and pants)
- Insulated down jacket or primaloft (down jacket)
- Warm gloves or mittens and a thinner pair of gloves
- A warm hat or headband
- Neck cover, balaclava or buff (to protect the face)
Equipment
- Backpack (about 35 litres) capable of attaching skis and carrying all your equipment
- Headlamp
- Specific spare parts (telemark binding spring, splitboard pins, dynafit walking/skiing mechanism, etc.)
- Ski goggles and sunglasses
- Helmet (not mandatory, but highly recommended for skiing. If you have one, please bring it)
- DVA (Avalanche victim detector)
- Shovel
- Probe
For snowboarders
- Splitboard
- Climbing skins
- Boots
- Adjustable poles (ideally they fit in the backpack)
For skiers
- Skis
- Ski attachment strap
- Climbing skins
- Boots (telemark or alpine)
- Ski poles
Personal management
- Sunscreen and lip balm
- Blister dressings, moleskin, hypafix and/or band-aid)
- Essential drugs
- Hand warmers, foot warmers
- Bottle of water (minimum 1 liter)
- Lunch
- Extra snack: energy bars, nuts, dried fruit and/or chocolate.
- A little comfort: folding chair to put on your boots in the parking lot
- Thin mattress (for sitting in the snow)
